Imperial Sinology Society is a student-led community exploring Chinese culture, history and contemporary society. Sinology means the study of China, and we bring that curiosity into student life at Imperial through shared experiences, creative activities and open conversation. You do not need to speak Chinese or have any prior knowledge to take part: students from every background are welcome.
Culture is at the heart of what we do. Our interests span literature, arts and living traditions, with cultural workshops, festival celebrations and opportunities to discover the stories behind them. From making Chinese knots to enjoying Lunar New Year performances, our activities offer ways to try something new, meet people and exchange perspectives. We also collaborate with other societies to bring different communities together.
Our SinoTech feature extends that curiosity to science, technology and innovation in contemporary China and beyond. Drawing on Imperial’s strengths, we explore topics such as artificial intelligence and healthcare through talks, forums and conversations with researchers and professionals, considering both emerging ideas and their wider social impact.
